"A Foreigners Journey" a tribute to Foreigner & Journey.

Newcastle Rocks!!

A Foreigners Journey played their first show in Newcastle tonight at Trillians, thanks to all the staff and crowd that made us feel so welcome and what a turn out, the place was packed out! judging from the comments after the show we dont think it will be long before we shall be playing there again.

Mick Burgess from Metal Express Radio came along to review the show, which we will post on the site as soon as we receive it.

Rhodes to Wulfrun Rocked!!!

All in AFJ want to thank everyone for an amazing night at The Wulfrun Hall last night, it was great to see all our new friends from RR09 again! Thanks to all the bands on the bill for making us feel so welcome and for their kind comments about the bands performance and their seal of approval for Jimi, Julian needs a big pat on the back for doing a sterling job of managing the event. It was great to see Eddie & Elaine at the front for AFJ :) There must have been around 800 die hard rockers in on the night who all gave AFJ their support in true Rhodes Rock style, this June is going to be something special we think!!

Well AFJ are in for a busy weekend, in Hull at the Springhead on Friday & Devon on Saturday.

Last weekend the band played at a new venue called DNE in Wakefield with Broken Angel, it really was a top night and the guy's hope to return very soon.

As Rhodes fever starts to fade, it has been announced that the reunion show that was held last year at the Wulfrun Hall, Wolverhampton shall indeed be happening again next year on 27th Feb 2010. The show aptly named 'Rhodes to Wulfrun' was the idea of Limehouse Lizzy who again shall be headling the event along with Letz Zep & Are U Experienced. The good news is that AFJ have now been added to the bill which should see over 1000 rock fans reunited. tickets are now available from Limehouse Lizzy's website priced at £17.50 and are really selling fast.

The not so good news is that AFJ frontman Matt has announced his wishes to leave the band, this came as a huge shock so soon after the bands return from Rhodes Rock 09 but all in AFJ respect his wishes and want to say a big thank you for all his hard work and contribution to the band.

Matt has kindly agreed to continue with the band until his replacement is found, so No show's will be cancelled.

Press Coverage

AFJ were featured in a number of Yorkshire newspapers this weekend,  the focus of their stories were based around the band being added to the Rhodes Rock 09 event in June.

This is the latest press release regarding the event, issued today.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for us at Classic Rock Tours as new enquiries continue to come in & with the RhodesRock08 reunion gig on the 14 February at The Wulfrun in Wolverhampton where we stayed over at the Novotel with many other RhodesRockers. What a great night it was with Are You Experienced, Limehouse Lizzy & Letz Zep all on top form. The Wulfrun was really rocking & it was great to see so many familiar faces including Alex & George from Socrates Bar in Lindos. So funny to see them wincing at the bar prices in England ! So many people came up & thanked us for putting the show on but this was down to the bands who organised the gig with us sorting out the hotel arrangements.

There were a few bleary eyes at breakfast the next morning after a heavy after show session in the hotel bar. It was great to see so many of the musicians coming back to the Novotel for a drink or 3 with the fans afterwards. Surely this will be an annual event now ??

The following morning Eddie flew to Rhodes for 4 days to contract more accommodation for RhodesRock09 which has already outsold last year’s event. The way it’s going the bands will have to sleep on the beach as rooms are filling fast. He was also meeting with a promotions company on the island to discuss the pre RhodesRock gig in Rhodes Town on Monday 15 June. This will be featuring a local rock band plus The ZZ Tops & Are You Experienced & will be bringing the message to the locals about what’s happening in Lindos later that week. If you are starting your RhodesRock holiday early let us know & we will send you final details of venue & time when they are available.

We now have 7 bands travelling from the UK to Lindos with the latest addition being A Foreigners Journey who have put together a superb tribute to 2 great bands, Foreigner & Journey of course. They will be opening the show at St Paul’s Bay on Friday 19 June followed by that Lil’ ol’ Band from Devon, The ZZ Tops ( if you can keep still during their set you’re unconscious ! ) with Garry Barrett & the Free Spirit boys closing the show with their great Bad Co./Free set so a rocking night is guaranteed. On Saturday we have the mind blowing Limehouse Lizzy kicking off the night’s festivities followed by surely the best Zeppelin tribute around, Letz Zep with the show being closed in guitar smashing & burning  style by the one & only John Campbell & Are You Experienced ?

This year we are bringing in a professional catering company so the food will be of a high standard with tables & chairs provided for your comfort along with bars organised by Alex & George from Socrates Bar. Our classic rock DJ, Phillip will be getting you in the mood from around 7pm & the live stuff should be underway by 8pm & scheduled to go through to around 2.30am.

Following the unforgettable last night show at the Ancient Amphitheatre last year where John Campbell & the guys blew everyone away with their brilliant Hendrix show we have arranged a last night spectacular from Think Floyd who will play a special tribute to the late Pink Floyd founder member Rick Wright who sadly passed on in September. We will be erecting a full stage & sound & lights rig backing directly on to the Ancient Amphitheatre which will be the backdrop to the stage. For those that don’t know, the location is right next to the house owned by Pink Floyd since the 70’s & where many happy times were spent by Rick so we feel this is particularly appropriate.

Full details of the VIP package which includes 2 extra events with live music from some of the bands can be found at http://www.classicrocktours.co.uk/show_schedule.htm

For those who are making their own travel arrangements details of the cost of the extra gig can be found on the same link.

Hope to see you in Lindos.
